The Message version of the Bible says, “You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless night. Each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book” (Psalm 56:8). Your search for God reveals that He is right there with you. He hears and He sees all that has to do with you. The writer of this Psalm, King David, feared for his life at the hands of Saul and was hiding out with Ziphites when they told Saul where he was. David was in a desperate situation and God heard him. Be assured that He doesn’t ever leave you; even when it seems your world is turning upside down. Just call His name for He is right there with you.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for listening when I call upon You. I’m so glad I learned that You are as close as the mention of Your name. It’s good to know You are a strong tower we can run to when the enemy comes in like a flood.

How big is God?

“(God) has measured the oceans in the palm of his hand…(God) has used His hand to measure the sky…(God) has used a bowl to measure all the dust of the earth…” (Isaiah 40:12, New Century Version)

If He could hold a tsunami in the palm of His hand, If He could measure a tornado by the distance between His thumb and forefinger, if one of His serving bowls could hold all of the sand on earth, then I’d say God’s Big Enough.

Big Enough to pay your bills. Big Enough to heal your sickness. Big Enough to solve any problem in your life!

How big is God? Big Enough!

Prayer: God, I thank-you that You are bigger than all my problems. I praise You that You are Big Enough to meet all my needs.

Some things are beyond my capability. I’ve faced my limitations and handicaps at various times in my life. I can find middle “C” on the piano, but struggle to pick out a tune. I have attempted to learn a foreign language but am unable to put together a simple sentence. I have tried to fix my problems and anticipate the future. These are not my talents either. I’ve eventually concluded that many things are impossible for me. That is not the end of my story, however. The Word of God is reassuring, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God” (Luke 18:27).

Prayer: Dear God, as long as You are in the picture, I need never worry about my limitations. You are capable of fixing my problems, restoring my relationships, and bringing peace in the middle of my chaos. Thank You!

“And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:” (Revelation 1:17 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). While serving a prison sentence on the island of Patmos, the Apostle John was acutely aware of his aloneness and in need of renewed courage from the Lord. The “right hand” of God is synonymous with His power. At this low point in his life, John said, “And he laid his right hand upon me.”
Prayer: Lord, I ask You to place Your right hand of power on me so that I can face this day with confidence and courage. I ask for the same assurance of Your presence and power as You gave the apostle John when You placed Your hand on him.
