“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24). “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Anyone remember whispering this to themselves on the playground when bullies would hurl unkind words your way? At the time…

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” (Genesis 6:8 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.) My husband has several metal detectors. He is a Civil War buff and goes with permission on property looking for finds or treasures. He’s found all kinds of items buried deep in the ground; old metal car, gold ring, coins, etc. The detector helped him locate these items. I don’t metal detect but I look for finds myself. Right now I’m looking for a khaki skirt (on sale of course). Noah landed the best find in the world when he “found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” God looked down on earth and saw a mess. In fact, He repented that He ever made man in verses 6-7. The word “but” changes the whole scene for God saw Noah and Noah found grace in the Lord’s eyes. He caught the attention of the Lord because he served the God of grace. Noah is not the only one in the elite club of grace finders, for I found grace also. I don’t deserve His grace but I’m so glad He had mercy on me.
Prayer: Dear Lord, this morning I want to say a great big THANK YOU for giving me grace. It is definitely your unmerited favor. It was a great big find for me when I found Your grace and mercy extended to me.

“But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons” (Galatians 4:4-5 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). The law is the law and it cannot be changed, but God’s grace is God’s grace and it is sufficient to enable me to fulfill His law. The law tells me what I should do, but God’s redeeming grace empowers me to keep it.

Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for buying my freedom from the slavery of sin, forgiving me, adopting me as one of your own and filling me with Your Spirit so I can choose to do what is right! Amen.
