“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health in the bones” (Proverbs 16:24). Often I hear people say they don’t understand the Bible. When asked if they’ve read it, the answer is, “No.” Understanding comes by reading the Word. I don’t know how to exist without…
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.) Weariness plagues all of us. I…
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14, Holy Bible, King James Version).
Thoughts and words need God’s approval. Thoughts rehearsed can be revised for clarity, gentleness, or better choice of words before verbalizing. Once spoken, words are permanent. They will be peaceful or destructive, depending on how successfully the thoughts were edited before they became words.
Prayer: Lord, help me to think positive things that reflect Your blessings and goodness. If my thoughts are like You, then my words will be like You also. When my speech reflects You, so will I. Guide my thoughts to produce words pleasing to You. Amen.

“When your soul is famished and withering, He fills you with good and beautiful things, satisfying you as long as you live. He makes you strong like an eagle, restoring your youth.” (Psalm 103:5) If you expand your reading to see the context of this verse in Psalm 103, you…
Payphone or cell phone? MP3 or antique gramophone? Computer screen or chalkboard? No contest. We are a technology generation.High-tech wins. It’s great but has one major flaw. Technology produces impatience. If the internet connection doesn’t open in less than ten seconds, we tap our fingers or click the mouse. Email or text messages beg for immediate reply. Do we treat prayer the same way? Pray. Click. Send message heavenward. Pace the floor waiting for instant message reply. Frustration follows when there’s no immediate response. God anticipated this reaction. He responded long before you asked. His answer? Waiting produces strength.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint,” (Isaiah 40:31, Holy Bible, King James).
Prayer : Lord, I have faith but little patience. Strengthen me while I wait. Amen.

“They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the LORD supported me” (Psalm 18:18 in the New Living Translation of the Holy Bible).
The strength of a building lies in its framework and foundation. The shell of wood, steel and concrete ensures the integrity and durability of the structure. In the same way, if Jesus Christ is the sure foundation and framework around which we have built our lives, when life’s storms and calamities threaten to overwhelm us, He is our strong support!
Prayer: In my moments of fear; through every pain, every tear; You have been my tower of refuge and strength. I lean on You, Lord!

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.)
Waiting for someone or something is not one of my virtues. In fact it really does grate on my nerves. According to this scripture, waiting on the Lord will renew your strength. After waiting our energy will be renewed so we can run and not become weary and walk and not faint.
There have been times when I felt totally depleted and found myself at His feet. After waiting on the Lord, I felt invigorated. It was worth the wait!
Prayer: Lord, today I fall at Your feet needing strength to go on. Thank You for Your Word that gives me clear direction on how to increase my physical and spiritual stamina. In Jesus Name, Amen.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” (Proverbs 18:10 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.)
There is nothing like His name. He is not just a tower, but He is a strong tower. The word strong is an adjective describing the tower. It’s not one in need of repair; it stands strong against the winds of adversity.
When I call on His name I feel complete safety. He is a refuge and my security. I have no need to fear whatever comes my way. His name brings peace to any situation.
Prayer: When I whisper Your name I feel automatic strength and peace. As the songwriter so apply wrote, “Jesus is the sweetest name I know. And He’s just the same as His lovely name. That’s the reason why I love Him so. For Jesus is the sweetest name I know.”
