The millennial generation has had more opportunities “to do what makes us happy,” but Gallop Market Research shows we are the least happy generation. Pursuing happiness—a temporary feeling based on what is happening is not the answer. What we need is a joy that is independent of circumstances and always…
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” 1 Peter 4:8-11. This time of year evokes a deep sense of gratitude because I reminisce my childhood around Thanksgiving and Christmas. In past devotions I’ve shared how I…
“We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they…
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) In Luke 17:12-19, Jesus was making his way into the city where ten lepers lived. When they saw Jesus, they cried out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” The highly…
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” I Thessalonians 5:18 With all the turmoil and strife that is in our world today, it is sometimes easy to forget that God is in complete control and that He sees a much…
“Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the loving kindness of the Lord” (Psalm 107:43 in the King James Version of the Bible).
After reading this in my Bible, I reread it in the Message version, “If you are really wise, you’ll think this over—it’s time you appreciated God’s deep love.” This is Thanksgiving month; a month set aside to count our blessings. It’s time we wise up to God’s loving-kindness to us and show our appreciation by worshiping Him more.
Prayer: Every day this month I will sing with the songwriter, “Thank You Lord for saving my soul. Thank You Lord for making me whole. Thank You Lord for giving to me; Thy great salvation, so rich and so free.” In Jesus’ Name. Amen!

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 As I approached the Lord in prayer this morning, my heart was filled with thanksgiving. Just to think that out of the millions of people in this world, God chose me to be one of…
“Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible) The Message reads, “Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High…
“The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.” Psalm 16:6
As I meditate upon the Lord this morning, my heart is filled with gratitude. There is food in my cupboard, clothing in my closet, and money in the bank to meet my monthly obligations. I have children who love me and keep in close touch. I have a great church to attend and a pastor who preaches God’s Word. Most important of all, I have assurance of salvation, and hope of eternity in heaven, when He calls me home.
I realize that I do not deserve all the blessing the Lord has bestowed upon me, it is only because of His mercy and care for me. Truly, like the Psalmist, I can say “my lines have fallen in pleasant places; and I have a godly heritage.”
I lift my voice in thanksgiving and praise to the Lord who daily provides my every need.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for all you have provided, help me to be ever thankful for your love.
