“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24). “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Anyone remember whispering this to themselves on the playground when bullies would hurl unkind words your way? At the time…
Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! (Romans 11:33, Holy Bible, New Living Translation).
When unexpected things bring abrupt changes to my life, I question whether I have made a wrong turn in my Christian journey. Then I realize it is a crossroads, a divine interception, designed by God. In His infinite wisdom, He has recognized my need when I cannot choose the right plan for my future.
Prayer: Eternal God, I don’t understand the detours You have placed in my life, but I know this is the path You have chosen for me. Amen.

“Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.” Proverbs 4:5-6
Wisdom is something we need to be sure not to forget. More than anything else, God’s wisdom will protect and keep us, no matter what we face.
We invest so much time in gaining knowledge, learning new skills, developing our talents and earning money. But how much time do we invest in seeking wisdom? It will make a much bigger difference in our lives and success than these other things.
Wisdom from experience is not complete. We need the wisdom that comes from God, and according to James 1:5, God is ready to give it to us liberally.
Prayer: Lord, help me to seek Your wisdom and not rely on my own ideas, especially when making crucial decisions. Help me to value the wisdom You give me.

I helped a blind lady each week for several years and was amazed how she got around in her home. She lived alone and knew how many steps from her bedroom to any room in her home. She had calculated her steps. When in unknown territory whoever was walking beside…
What we consider a “small” decision may actually change the course of our life. Rushing ahead without first seeking guidance through prayer and godly counsel can lead to disaster. There is wisdom in knowing when to respect the advice given, even when it may not seem important or logical. Read…
“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” (James 5:16 from the NLT of the Holy Bible) Where would we be without the godly mentors in our…
“Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” (Psalm 147:5 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)
Life can seem so complex from our vantage point. The boundaries of our minds keep us from seeing through the maze of difficulty to a victorious end. We are limited to the present reality, but God’s understanding is without measure.
Prayer: Instead of trying to figure it all out, I will trust Your wisdom, Your knowledge. Lead me, Lord.

I helped a blind lady each week for several years and was amazed how she got around in her home. She lived alone and knew how many steps from her bedroom to any room in her home. She had calculated her steps. When in unknown territory whoever was walking beside her would instruct her on steps and whether they are higher than normal or how the doors open. She relied on that person heavily to get where she was going.
“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.” (Ephesians 5:15 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).
I looked up the word circumspect and found that it meant to look about; careful to consider all related circumstances before acting, judging, deciding; cautious; careful.
Prayer: Lord, I realize more than ever that I need You leading me. As the songwriter put it, “I can’t even walk without You holding my hand.” I want to be wise and calculate my steps.

Imagine you are a contestant in a cosmic game show. The host provides the answer. The contestant must provide the appropriate question to that answer.
Contestant: “I’ll take Biblical Answers for $200.”
Host: “The answer is…God.”
Contestant: The question is…“Who knows how many hairs I have on my head?”
Host: Correct!
Contestant: “Biblical Answers for $300.”
Host: “The answer is…God.”
Contestant: The question is…“Who knows when I’m going to die?”
Host: Correct!
“Two sparrows cost only a penny, but not even one of them can die without your Father knowing it. God even knows how many hairs are on your head. So don’t be afraid, you are worth much more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31, New Century Version)
Prayer: God, I’m glad I don’t have to worry because whatever my question, YOU are the answer!!
