“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him; and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:11 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.)
Wise men traveled to where Jesus was in search of their Messiah. They brought the strangest gifts to shower Jesus with; gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Not practical gifts for a baby. Strange gifts; unless they were to be given to a king. That’s exactly who He was; the newborn King!
These were wise men who knew who Jesus was so they brought appropriate gifts for their King. Unusual, but appropriate for Jesus! Upon seeing Him they immediately fell down and worshipped him first. I want to do the same this time of year.
Prayer: Lord, at this season, don’t let me forget to shower You with my worship and praise. For You are the reason for the season! Thank You for coming!
