“Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.” Proverbs 31:29

We have been looking at the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31. I hope that we no longer see her as a paragon on a pedestal far above us and unreachable, but as someone you can be. Let’s look at the final verses in this passage in the NLT:

“Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her. There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!”

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.”

“Reward her for all she has done.”

“Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.”

Do you now see her as a normal, average woman who has given her life to the Lord and is letting Him work on her daily to make her what He desires her to be? Do you see that just believing in yourself, and walking daily with the Lord, listening to His voice, and obeying His direction is all that the Lord requires of you? Are you ready to let the Lord polish you, remove the imperfections and smooth out the rough spots, so that you can be considered “more valuable than rubies”?

I trust that these seven devotional thoughts have been a blessing to each one that has read them. Each of us are special in God’s sight, chosen by Him to fulfill a special place in His kingdom. We may not get a lot of praise and glory here on earth, but one day, the Lord is going to welcome us into heaven and there we will reap the rewards of our faithfulness.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for choosing us to be your daughter and providing the guidance that we need to live a life that is pleasing in your sight.
