“You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.”

Psalms 8:2 NLT

I was watching a sermon online a few months ago and I was changed forever, and I don’t say that lightly. I struggle with fear, even more so after having my two daughters. It catches me off guard usually, causing me to feel anxious and like something awful is going to happen.

The man preaching in this video said (paraphrasing) that when fear enters your mind, and frightening thoughts keep you awake at night, that you should speak a truth. Not just any truth, like the earth is round, but a truth from the word of God. He instructed to say it boldly, and with confidence.

I decided I would try it. One day as I was driving I suddenly became fearful for no apparent reason and said aloud “there is only one God, and his name is Jesus” I could feel something change so I said it again!

There is power in truth ladies. We can change the atmosphere around us, and it’s as simple as speaking a truth. I changed my situation that day, by speaking the word of God! I did my part, and then God stepped in with all power and authority, and fear had to leave.

Are you struggling with fear? Here are some scriptures that may match your situation.

I’m fearful about my future… “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Jeremiah 29:11

The current state of the world frightens me… “Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.”

Psalms 90:2

I’m struggling with anxiety today… “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

No matter what you are facing, there is a truth that can defeat it and silence your enemy. Proclaim his strength and goodness, tell of his mercy and grace!

The enemy is the father of lies, and where truth is, he can’t be. You have a very powerful weapon at your disposal, truth.

God, help me in situations of fear and anxiety to remember that I am your child, and that I walk in truth. I don’t have to live in fear, but can find peace in you through your word.
