Humans are satisfied with whatever looks good; God probes for what is good. (Proverbs 16:2, The Message)
Our society has become totally obsessed with how they appear. The world of Instagram and Facebook often portray people with perfect lives when in reality, no life is perfect. Unfortunately, we can be tricked into believing that everyone else seems to have it all together and we can be left feeling ashamed or even embarrassed of our own lives.
God cares about our heart. If we could spend less time trying to make our lives look perfect on social media and reflect more on how we appear to God, we would feel so much more fulfilled. God is the only one who can fill the voids in our lives. While Facebook and Instagram may give us momentary happiness, it will never compare to the completeness we will feel knowing that he is happy with us.
Prayer: Our focus is so easily shifted. Help us to keep our eyes on what matters. Thank you, Lord, for your consistent forgiveness even when we are so easily sidetracked. In Jesus name, amen.
