“For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” Mark 5:28

Bent low with pain she pushed her way through the crowd. Somewhere beyond the dusty feet walked the Healer whom she had heard so much about. Careful not to brush against anyone else, she moved closer, aware that if anyone saw her, she would be rebuked. At last, she was near enough to reach out a trembling hand and carefully brush the hem of the garment He wore.

Immediately He stopped walking and spoke, “Who touched me?” His disciples walking near Him laughed as they reminded their Master that He was in a crowd and many people were touching Him.

He spoke again, “No, this was a special touch for I have felt healing power leave my body to touch someone who is in need.” In fear and trembling, yet knowing that something had happened in her body, she fell at His feet, confessing her need. She knew that because of her sickness, she was considered unclean and that simply for touching a Jewish man, she could be severely punished.

But Jesus spoke again, “Daughter, your faith has made you whole, go in peace and be healed.” Forgetting those around her, she stood to her feet and as she looked into those eyes of love and compassion, joy and peace flooded her soul.

Jesus does not walk our streets today, and we cannot touch him with our physical hands. But no matter what our need might be, we can press through the cloud of pain and suffering that we are experiencing and touch Him in faith. He is always listening for the cry of a soul in need, and in tender compassion, His hand touches us and we feel strength and love flow through us, healing our sickness, forgiving our sins, providing just what we need for our situation.

Whatever you are facing today, reach out to the One who loves you more than you can ever imagine and is just waiting to hear your cry and to say, “Go in peace, your faith has made you whole.”

Prayer: Jesus, so many times we have reached out to you and you have met our need, answered our prayers and healed our bodies. Thank you that you are always near and waiting for us to reach out and touch you.
