“And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.  And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;  And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” Revelation 21:9-14

This week we have been talking about heaven, looking into the Scriptures, and asking the Lord to open our eyes to the wonderful place He is preparing for His people. There is so much that we don’t understand and will not fully grasp until we get there. I hope that reading these articles has given you the desire to draw closer to the Lord and make sure you are ready for His coming.

Heaven is not a fantasy; it is not a dream. It is a real place, although the Book of Revelation uses a lot of symbolic language, which our minds cannot fully grasp. It is a place of beauty and majesty. After all my studying and praying this week, I still don’t have all the answers. At my age, I know that my days are getting shorter, and heaven is not that far away.

But my focus is not on seeing the streets of gold, the angels, or the crystal river. My focus is on drawing close to the Lord Jesus, making sure that He is the Lord of every aspect of my life. I am so glad that I have His Holy Spirit abiding in my heart, and that my name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I am looking forward to the day when I look upon the face of my Redeemer, when I feel His loving arms around me, and I know that I am home. My desire is that my life here on earth has pleased Him and I will hear Him say, “Well done, enter into the joys of the Lord.”

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for your love, mercy, and grace, that makes me know I am your child and one day I am going to be with You for eternity.

I look forward to your devotional writings, so much depth and wisdom. My spirit connects and this one sparked an excitement in my heart about heaven. So much darkness surrounding us we forget the bright future with Jesus, our hope. What a day that will be!
