“And David was greatly distressed………. but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” I Samuel 30:6.

Do you need encouragement today? David had returned home and found his city destroyed and the people taken captive. The men that were with him were blaming him for not being there to protect their families. David became greatly distressed for a time. But then he realized that God was still the same and he encouraged himself and found a solution for the problem.

I would just like to share some scriptures that the Lord gave me in prayer this morning as I sought Him for encouragement and strength to face another week of uncertainty.

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3.

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” I John 5:14-15.

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:1-3.

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8.

I am sure that you all have some favourite verses that you go to when you need encouragement and strength, but these are the ones that the Lord gave me. I trust they will be a blessing to you as well.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your Word and how you bring it to our remembrance when we need you. Encourage each one that is reading these words today and give them the strength they need to face the future.
