“The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” (Psalm 16:6-8 from the NIV of the Holy Bible)

According to Webster’s Dictionary, a boundary is “a point or limit that indicates where two things become different”. What a perfect definition when applying this concept to our walks with God.  Scripture sets up boundaries for us.  These boundaries are not there to hinder us, rather to keep us safe from moving further from Him and closer to the things of this world.

Boundaries indicate where two things become different.  Yes, sometimes life on the other side of the boundary may look new and exciting, but these are temporary emotions that will not last without Him in your life. I would never want God to look at my life and see me on the wrong side of the boundary line.  We must strive to do everything in our power to stay within the boundaries that He sets for us.

Prayer: Lord, help me to follow the guidelines and principles that you have outlined for me in Your word. It may not always be easy, but living under your protection is the only way that I want to live. Amen.
