“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”
Isaiah 43:2
My childhood was not ideal. It wasn’t absolutely terrible, but it wasn’t great either. My coping mechanism (or what I thought was my coping mechanism) was to put up walls and just always expect the worst. I never allowed myself to have hope, because, well.. what was the point? People let me down, my family had issues and statistics alone told me I would never amount to anything. Depressing right?
My “coping mechanism” was actually destroying me. I could never see the good, never felt joy or peace and everything always had a negative. As I grew older and developed a relationship with God though, I realized that everyone has something they have had to deal with. Terrible things happen to other people, not just me.
This scripture tells us “WHEN you go through deep waters” We are not exempt from trials, and just life itself. Life will happen, but He is always with us, and that gives me so much hope and reassurance that everything is going to be okay.
As long as I have God with me, I will make it, and so will you!
I am so thankful today that You are always with me God. You stick closer than a brother, and Your word promises that You will never leave me nor forsake me. I will face things in this lifetime that I cannot handle on my own, but I will find my strength in You.
