“And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.” (2 Chronicles 7:5 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

Solomon had accomplished so much at the end of twenty years. He had built the Temple of God. He built impulsively and extravagantly. His worship was also extravagant.

Upon completion of the Temple, it was opened for worship. King Solomon worshiped by sacrificing 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep at the dedication of the Temple. The Temple was filled with people. The presence of God also filled the temple. Thank God for leaders who example how worship should be.

Have you ever had someone accuse you of going to church too much? I have. The House of God cannot be visited too much. He deserves extravagant worship after all He has given us.

When I read the amount of 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep that Solomon sacrificed, all I could do was exclaim, “WOW!” It was his grateful response to God for His favor. It made me want to increase the intensity of my worship.

Prayer: You’re my Lord and my God! I owe You more than what I am giving. Help me, Lord, to worship You with everything I’ve got. Amen!
