calculator“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.”  (Philippians 3:7 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

Children have a saying when things really don’t make sense.  They say, “Go figure!”

The Apostle Paul let us know in this passage that he calculated his life and determined that Christ was his sum total.

As human beings we can get caught up thinking that education, family name, etc. make us valuable to others.  Paul realized after adding it up that all of these things had become an obstacle.  His dependence on these things were a loss or worthless as far his salvation went.

The most important thing is to keep your heart right with God and God alone.  Don’t let the devil distract you with all his glitz and glitter.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, I want to get it right.  The things of this world will pass but the things of God are eternal!  I want to keep my eyes on You and not on this present world.  Amen!
