“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.” Romans 4:20-23

I mentioned Abraham and his trust in God in an earlier post this week, but when I was reading my Bible this morning, this verse stood out to me again.  It must have been scary when Abraham left his country to follow God on a journey, not knowing where he was going.  It took a lot of faith to just leave everything he had ever known behind.

But, he had a promise from God and with his whole heart he believed that God would not fail to fulfill that promise.  Despite all the thing he experienced and the long wait he had before God finally gave him the son that had been promised, he trusted God completely.

I remember my Dad telling how when he surrendered to God, the Lord gave him a promise that he would save his household.  I am so thankful that during his lifetime, he saw all his children living for the Lord and serving Him in some capacity.  I am thankful for my legacy.  When our children were born, we dedicated them to the Lord. Now two of them are involved in ministry, and I am still trusting the Lord to bring the other one back into the fold. I will hold fast to the promise the Lord gave me concerning him.

Prayer:  Thank you, Jesus for your promises and that you never fail to fulfill them.
