“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.”  Exodus 33:14-15

Moses had been chosen by God to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt, but as he faced their rebellions and failings, no doubt he got discouraged and wondered if he really was the one to lead them.  In this chapter it tells us that the Lord spoke to him face to face, and told Moses that he had found grace in His sight, and He knew him by name.  He promised that His presence would go with Moses.

Moses knew that he could not go without the Lord’s presence.  He knew that they would face enemies and trials, and only with the help of the Lord would they be able to overcome.

We may not be called to be a great leader like Moses, but each one of us has a place to fill in the kingdom of God.  We cannot do anything in our own strength. It is only as we allow the presence of God to lead us and direct us, that we can fulfill our calling.

Prayer: Lord we desire that your presence be with us every moment of every day.
