Hebrews 12:2

“We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”

Oftentimes we become consumed with what is going on around us, with what our natural eyes can see. We struggle to look beyond what is directly in front of us, and usually end up discouraged and unfocused.

Jesus suffered so terribly on the cross. The pain He endured is horrifying to even think about or to try to wrap our minds around. Yet, in spite of this, He remained there. Why?

First of all, because He loves us. Second, because He knew what joy awaited Him. Jesus was able to look past His current state of suffering to what was waiting for Him beyond that moment.

We need to be like Jesus in this way – to have the ability to see beyond our current circumstance. To recognize that seasons change, and moments are just that – moments. Life changes as quickly as the wind, and beyond this moment of despair and hurt – there is joy and healing waiting for us. Jesus is waiting for you, but you need to lift your eyes unto the hills, because your help truly does come from Him.

Prayer: Lord, I am thankful that You are my provider and sustainer. You keep me and are always with me, even in moments of doubt and pain. Today I choose to lift my eyes to You, and to turn over my life into Your caring hands.
