2 Samuel 16:13-14 ESV “So David and his men went on the road, while Shimei went along on the hillside opposite him and cursed as he went and threw stones at him and flung dust. And the king, and all the people who were with him, arrived weary at the Jordan. And there he refreshed himself.” I admire people who hold to their convictions and stand up for what they believe in. Shimei was one of those people I think. He seems to be having a hard time letting go of the past though, and accepting David as king. While David…

“And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.  For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son…

“And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,” Deuteronomy 10:12 In Deuteronomy, Moses had been re-telling the story of the Israelite’s deliverance from Egypt and their travels up to this point. They had been so close to going into the Promised Land, but due to their fear, they had been forced to dwell in the wilderness for forty years. The ones who had…

“And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.” (Genesis 3:8 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). Every few months HUD Housing inspects its rental homes to make sure that they are being taken care of. I wonder what God would find if He walked through your home today? The garden of Eden was Adam and Eve’s home and apparently He made a daily inspection of the garden. It was always at the end of the day. This should not have been a surprise visit for He had been there the day before, but on this particular day the scripture says that they hid themselves from the presence of the Lord. We know why they hid; because they had disobeyed God. If God inspected my home would I pass the inspection or would He find grounds to evict me? How about your home? Maybe it’s time to clean out the things from our home that displease God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I don’t want to find anything in my house that would be displeasing to You. You have provided a home where I can reside with my family. Let me keep it clean and pure in Your sight. Amen!

Keep me safe, O God, I’ve run for dear life to you. I say to God, “Be my Lord!” Without you, nothing makes sense. (Psalm 16:1-2) Like all of you, I have so many friends and family who are not saved.  I’ve had countless conversations with several of them about life and its purpose. I have discovered that most of them are so unaware that their lives lack meaning.  I watch as they jump from one thing to the next trying to find what makes them feel fulfilled and it just doesn’t work. God makes our lives make sense.  Even…

God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.  I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.” (Genesis 17:15-16, NIV) God wants to bless each one of us beyond what we can imagine.  There is no way Sarah and Abraham could have dreamed of what God wanted to do through them. Even following the promise He had given them, I’m sure there were moments of…
