“Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” (John 11:21, NKJV). Friendship is a great thing. Before opening ourselves up to a new friend, we usually look for qualities like common interests, trust, loyalty, dependability, supportiveness. So it was puzzling when Jesus didn’t show up when His good friend, Lazarus, became seriously ill. In fact, Jesus deliberately delayed, and then it was too late. Lazarus was dead and buried before Jesus even left to go to him. He arrived four days too late. Or so it seemed. Purposefully Delayed The disciples…
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep your righteous rules. (Psalm 119:105-106, ESV) There’s a saying that rules are made to be broken. But is this really true? Do we even want it…
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22, ESV) Looking out my window this morning, I saw sunshine and the promise of a new season. I live in an area that has four distinct seasons, each with…

“Look! The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will name him Emmanuel,” which means “God with us.”Matthew 1:23 NET Emmanuel…God with us. How incredible! Jesus is God with us…always. In every moment. In every struggle and in every battle. He is, always, “Emmanuel, God with us”. We know we live in a physical world, but fight a spiritual battle (I Corinthians 10:3-5; Ephesians 6:12). How wonderful is it to know that Jesus, our Emmanuel, is always with us! Fighting for us, defending us, covering us…we can breathe a sigh of relief knowing this! Sisters, we…
“And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you” (Isaiah 46:4). Recently I read a perfect illustration of trust. Have you ever noticed the expression of an infant being carried on the shoulder of his mother or father? The baby’s face is a study in total relaxation and trust. While the parent sees where the two are headed, the child can see only where they have been. The infant is not worried about being at least five feet in the air because he trusts the one that is holding him. God promises to carry us for a lifetime.
Prayer: Lord, I want to trust You more. I want to continue leaning on my Father’s shoulder knowing that He knows the way to take me. I am dependent on Your care.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible) Why do we give up too soon? I know how it feels when you are given a cancer diagnosis; you think it’s the end. But can I tell you that it’s not over yet. God has a plan and you are in the hollow of His hand! Having been diagnosed with breast cancer three times, I can tell you that it’s not over until God says it’s over!…
“But the father said to his slaves, ‘Hurry! Bring the best robe, and put it on him! Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet! Bring the fattened calf and kill it! Let us eat and celebrate” (Luke 15:22-23, New English Translation). Have you ever been part of a surprise party, either as the recipient or as one attending? I have, and it’s fun to see the look on the person’s face when they realize what is happening. Not long ago I was part of just such an occasion, and it was my task to get the birthday…
