“And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:” Luke 1:41
The Scriptures tell us that after Mary had been visited by the angel and knew that she had been chosen to bear the Messiah, she left her home and journeyed to visit Elisabeth. Before she had a chance to share her news, Elisabeth experienced an involuntary response to the nearness of Christ. The baby she was carrying, who had been chosen as the forerunner of Christ, leaped in her womb, and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.
Mary and Elisabeth each had a part to play; they were both vessels chosen by God to fulfill the plan He had for bringing salvation to the world. Their time together gave them strength to go forward in their separate paths.
Maybe we experience some of the joy they felt, when we come together as a family to worship the Lord. Because the Lord Jesus dwells within our hearts, we recognize the Spirit within each other. As we sing and praise the Lord, and listen to the ministry of His Word, we are bound together in unity and strengthened in our desire to be used of God to show the world His love.
We pray for wisdom and direction to walk in the plan God has for each of us in His Kingdom.
Prayer: Jesus thank you for your Holy Spirit that dwells within us, and for the people you have given to support and encourage us. You have a purpose for each one of us to fill, help us to be obedient to your voice.
