So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” (Colossians 3:1-2 from the Message version of the Holy Bible)

Have you ever zoomed into a picture on your computer screen so far that the image becomes unrecognizable? The devotion for today is simple.  Sometimes we look at things that we are going through too closely.  Just like the zoomed in picture – your life will look messed up and confusing until you look at it from further away. If we spend all of our effort focusing on that one thing in our lives instead of stepping back and looking at the bigger picture, we are bound to feel out of sorts.

We are all guilty of letting life get in the way of what God wants to do through us.  If only we could see ourselves and our lives the way that He sees them! Take some time today and ask God for a fresh perspective on life. Only He can help us to see the BIG picture!

Prayer: Help me today, God, to see my life the way that You see it. Help me to not focus on the small things.  I want to be a light for Your kingdom, and I know that I cannot do that if all of my time is spent focusing on myself. In Jesus name, amen.

  1. We are all guilty of focusing more on minor issues than the important things which is the KING himself, and his kingdom. We are suppose to be about our Fathers business which is the things of God. There is always someone worst off than you, so we need to meet the needs of others. I recently did a post entitled “Your purpose is not about you.” We are here to serve others as Jesus served. God has a plan for our lives but we must be willing vessels.
