But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”

Mark 4:37-38

I love to sleep during a rain storm. I find it so soothing and relaxing and I’ve told my husband numerous times that I would love to have a tin roof on our home, just so I can hear the rain even more.

That being said, I draw the line at rain. Thunder, lightning and hurricane force winds are too much for me and are definitely not relaxing.

Jesus was sleeping through this storm though, and seemed to be the only one doing so. Everyone was panicked and frightened except for Him. Why?

There is a lesson to be learned from this story. That even in the midst of the worst storms and seasons of your life, you can still find rest and experience peace.

Jesus knew exactly what was happening outside, but knew everything was going to be okay and work out just fine. Seasons change and storms will always pass, we just have to believe that God is always with us and is watching over our lives.

If you are in the middle of a difficult situation, there is rest and peace waiting for you at the feet of Jesus today.

God, help me to trust that everything is going to be okay. I know You are always with me, and will work it out for my good. Help me to experience rest today.
