“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5 The crowd that gathered around Jesus that day knew what it was like to be submissive. They had nothing. They lived under the power and dominion of the Romans. At times they felt anything but blessed. Those who…
“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares” (Hebrews 13:2). The writer of the Hebrews understood the implications of treating everybody as if… To be entertained can mean to amuse or provide amusement, here however, the writer was cautioning us not to forget the importance…
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30 ESV). I sat in the rather small seating area of the doctor’s office, waiting for my appointment. I was early and…
“Let brotherly love continue.” (Hebrews 13:1 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.)
I recently saw a church sign that read, “Attitudes are contagious!” How true. I would go one step further and say, “Attitudes are highly contagious!”
Observe those around you wherever you go today. We affect each other in ways we are not even aware of. A smile will cause the next person to smile. Grumbling about the produce will cause others to join in and only make matters worse.
I often told my children that their attitudes were showing. Believe you me it’s worse than having your slip hanging below your skirt! Watch the way one child reacts when another child takes his toy. The fight is on; pulling and screaming ensues.
Prayer: Jesus, help me to be quick to pass on love and peace that comes from You. Thank You for the love that exist in the church. Don’t let this love ever be interrupted but let it continue. In the midst of chaos let me breathe Your name. Amen!

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4 Holman Christian Standard Bible) Are you living a life of worry and frustration or are you celebrating God’s blessings in spite of your circumstances? Christians have every reason to rejoice. Our eyes are focused on Jesus -…
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” (Psalm 37:4 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible) I watched a toddler’s eyes light up and he started clapping his hands as his mother approached his stroller with an ice cream…
“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.) This week I found…
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” (Proverbs 23:7, Amplified Bible) “Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3, Holy Bible, New King James Version) These Scriptures confirm the power of thoughts. Success requires commitment. Thinking good things brings positive action…
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks…” (Luke 17:15-16, Holy Bible King James Version).
Ten lepers stood far away from Jesus and cried out for mercy. Jesus tested their faith by telling them to go and show themselves to the Jewish priest, the custom when leprosy was cleansed. All were healed on the journey, but only one returned to give Jesus thanks. That one displayed the attitude of gratitude.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, in this world of selfies, help me to show the attitude of gratitude for Your touch. Amen.
