“And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.” Genesis 24:58 At the beginning of the year, when we begin reading the Bible through once more, the story of Isaac and Rebekah has always stood out to me. This…
“And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines?” (I Chronicles 14:10). While recently chatting with a friend about this and that, she made the comment, “So, I prayed about what I should do.” I hate to admit it, but I immediately thought, “Why would she…
“Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days. There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand” (Proverbs 19:20-21, New King James Version). I observed how two friends faced decisions in their lives. My choice is you, God, first and only. And now I find I’m your choice! You set me up with a house and yard. And then you made me your heir! (Psalm 16:5-6 MSG) We wake up every day and make a conscious decision to choose a God-centered life. God knew…

“I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” (Ephesians 4:1 in the New International Version of the Holy Bible). There is no more important question to ask ourselves than, “What is my life purpose?” Without the answer to that question, we will live unfulfilled, unhappy lives. The good news is God has a life purpose for every individual. It is our responsibility to seek out that purpose through communication with God and His Word. We are called to live a life that constantly reflects God’s purpose for us. All of the decisions we make in life should be rooted in that purpose.

Prayer: There is no higher calling than to fulfill Your purpose for my life, Lord. Help me to seek after it and listen for it. May my heart be centered in Your will today. Amen.
