“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18, New English Translation). True happiness seems elusive to many people. Part of this may result from their viewpoint on life. If we judge our happiness…
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” I Thessalonians 5:18 One morning I was changing the sheets on my bed and as I was tucking the fitted sheet under the mattress, I began to think of how we used to…
“What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.” Psalm 116:12-13 The Lord has done so much for us, how could we ever repay Him. His gift of salvation alone is…
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” (Psalm 37:4 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible) I watched a toddler’s eyes light up and he started clapping his hands as his mother approached his stroller with an ice cream…
“Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare” (Psalm 75:1 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). In the United States, November is the month when Thanksgiving in on our minds. It’s my…
“And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks…” (Luke 17:15-16, Holy Bible King James Version)
Ten lepers stood far away from Jesus and cried out for mercy. Jesus instructed them to go and show themselves to the Jewish priest as was customary when leprosy was cleansed. All were healed on the way but only one returned to give Jesus thanks. He had the attitude of gratitude.
Prayer: Jesus, I am so thankful that You are the same now as when You spoke to the ten lepers. Your salvation, healing and other miracles are available for me today as they were then. Like the grateful leper, I have the attitude of gratitude for the changes You have made in my life. Thank You for Your special touch. Amen.

“Do all things without grumbling, complaining and faultfinding…” (Philippians 2:14, Amplified Bible)
What does ALL THINGS mean? All we do. All things we say. All things we participate in. All things we are responsible for.
This verse could just as easily have said “Do your job without grumbling, pay your bills without complaining and raise your children without faultfinding.”
By not grumbling, we show God we accept the life He’s given us. By not complaining, thankfulness grows in us. By not faultfinding, we begin to see all that’s right in our world!
What ALL THINGS are on your list today? With God’s help you can do them with joy!
Prayer: God, forgive me for the many times I’m complained about ________________. Help me to see things as you see them. Fill my heart with thankfulness and joy in all I do today. Amen.
