“Trust me,” my husband likes to tease.

But trust is not something that comes easy for me. Fearful and anxious, I am reluctant to try many things. Too often people have let me down, and I hesitate, leery of giving them another opportunity to hurt me.

Life is full of pain and disappointments. Who is safe? Is there anyone that I can trust? Do they mean what they say or is there a hidden agenda? Am I being manipulated?

The Word of God declares, “God is faithful” (1 Corinthians 10:13). That means that He is trustworthy, true, loyal, constant, staunch, steadfast, devoted, and true-blue!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness. You are a rock in the middle of the uncertainties in my life. I am so thankful.

Do you feel weaker in God than you have in the past? Are there times in your life when your commitment to God was stronger? When you prayed more? When you read the Holy Bible more? When you attended church more? Trust in the Lord and you can be strong again.
READ: Isaiah 40:31 from the Holy Bible New Century Version, “But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky. They will run and not need rest. They will walk and not become tired.”
Prayer: Dear God, I’m sorry I haven’t talked to You much lately. Please forgive me. Today, I recommit myself to You and to the teachings of the Holy Bible. I promise to attend church so that I can learn more about You. I want to trust in You so that I can become strong again. Amen.

Life has a way of turning us from faith to fear. The Bible tells us that God does not cause us to fear (2 Timothy 1:17). God gives us the gift of confidence, love and a calm, well-balanced mind. So how do we make fear a non-factor in our lives? Apply the Word of God to your life everyday. Constantly remind yourself of Matthew 6:30-31, “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?” (King James Version of the Holy Bible)
Prayer: Lord, I accept the gift of Your care and concern for me today. I cast aside my anxiety and choose to live care-free! Lord, I trust in your provision, power and plan for my life. I will not allow worry to distract me from trusting in You. Amen.

“By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them…. But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection” (Hebrews 11: 33 and 35). There is a popular notion about prayer which assumes that the thing asked for ought to be the object of faith. But the Bible tells us the only absolutes we can trust and be assured of are the character of God, His love, His will that we be conformed to His Son’s likeness and His sovereign control of the universe. If the thing we ask for is not given or it doesn’t happen, our faith may waver and even dissolve. But if faith latches on to the reality of God’s sovereignty; if it believes in the darkest storm that all things work together for good to them that love God, then faith itself becomes our victory regardless of the outcome!
Prayer: Lord, help me to put my trust completely in You – to keep my shield of faith lifted high even when Your answer is no, or not yet or wait.

“Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!” (Romans 11:33, Holy Bible, New Living Translation). When unexpected things happen, I question my future. Have I made a wrong turn, or has God remapped my route? Maybe neither. It could be a definitive learning curve to teach me to trust God’s ways.

prayer: Eternal God, I don’t understand the twists and turns You’ve placed in my life, but I will trust Your decisions. You know what’s best for me. Amen.

Occasionally it seems that we lose our way. It happens to the best of us. The darkness of night descends around us, and we can no longer see clearly. The bright sunlight is obscured and the road, we once easily maneuvered, now seems narrow, winding and hazardous. It is one thing to navigate hills and dangerous curves in broad daylight, but attempting them in the dead of night is another. Without familiar landmarks to guide our way, each bend seems treacherous. Life has a way of blindsiding us. We are frightened when dark, heavy clouds envelop our lives.

Prayer: Lord, Your Word tells us that when we fear (respect) You and are obedient, that we no longer walk in darkness. “Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon His God” (Isaiah 50:10). We trust You with our lives. In You there is light and life.

Where can we go and be safe? I’ve wondered that at times. People fail us. Circumstances come avalanching through our lives, leaving us wounded, beaten and broken. It seems that there is no one that we can count on all the time and in every situation. There is a “Friend” that will never leave us. There is One that can be trusted with our darkest secrets and greatest needs. It is exhausting to constantly defend and protect ourselves and what we have. “Trust in the Lord,” the Psalmist said (Psalm 37:4). When we trust God, we no longer have to struggle and strain to get what we need.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we do trust You. Give us courage to trust You even more. Being vulnerable even before You is not easy. You know that. Thank You for loving us. Thank You for providing for our every need.

How big is God? READ: Isaiah 40:12 from the Holy Bible, New Century Version: “(God) has measured the oceans in the palm of his hand…(God) has used His hand to measure the sky…(God) has used a bowl to measure all the dust of the earth…” If He could hold a tsunami in the palm of His hand, If He could measure a tornado by the distance between His thumb and forefinger, if one of His serving bowls could hold all of the sand on earth, then I’d say God’s Big Enough. Big Enough to pay your bills. Big Enough to heal your sickness. Big Enough to solve any problem in your life! How big is God? Big Enough!

Prayer: God, I thank-you that You are bigger than all my problems. I praise You that You are Big Enough to meet all my needs.
