“If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you,” John 14:15-18

Sometimes I find myself trying to figure out how the Lord can be everywhere at once. With the millions of people in this world, it is hard to understand how I can feel Him here with me. But I have the promise of Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Have you ever awakened in the night feeling cold? You reach for the blanket or comforter at the foot of your bed and wrap it tightly around you. Soon, you feel warm and cozy and can go back to sleep.

For the past few years, I have lived alone. Yet I do not feel lonely. It is hard to explain, but I sense the presence of the Lord with me. As I go about my work or leisure activities during the day, I feel the warmth of His presence. And at night, I can lay my head on the pillow and know that He is watching over me as I sleep.

When Jesus was preparing His disciples for His coming death, He made them a promise. Even though He would no longer be with them in bodily form, He would come back to them. They did not fully understand what He was saying until after the Day of Pentecost. Then they realized that His Holy Spirit was within them.

Throughout this week, we have been looking at ways that the Holy Spirit leads us. How blessed we are to have Him dwelling within our hearts. He is there for us on our good days and our bad ones. If we listen to His voice and follow His leading, we will never go astray.

Jesus told His disciples:e is  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” John 16:13-14

Thought For Today: Oh, spread the tidings round wherever man is found, the Comforter has come.”
