And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28, ESV)

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. I take this sentence very literally and often find myself looking for shortcuts if I’m ever on any sort of a walk. Perhaps this is because I’m lazy, although I would rather look at it as being efficient.

Sometimes we wonder why God allows us to hit every single detour on the way to where we are headed. Much of our time is spent wondering why he would allow this. What I’ve discovered in my 28 years on this planet is that we learn things all along the way. Life in a straight line would be easier, but we would come out on the other end having experienced much less. He lets us take the long way because He knows we will be better because of it.

Prayer: Following the path that you specifically design for each of us makes life so wonderful! I am grateful to know that you walk with us wherever we go. Thank you, Jesus. Amen!
