“Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed” Psalm 37:3
David wrote so many beautiful psalms, and we can always find something there no matter what circumstances we are in. I have read this Psalm many times, but this week it seemed to jump out at me in a special way. There are four things mentioned in the first part of it, that are the things I thank the Lord for every day.
Verse 3, says we can “trust” in the Lord for our food and shelter. How thankful I am for a comfortable place to live, shelter from the cold, and that there is food in my pantry and refrigerator.
Verse 4 tells us that if we “delight” in Him, he will give us the desires of our heart. Of course, when we delight fully in the Lord, He changes the desires of our hearts, and the things we want are what will be pleasing to Him.
Verse 5 says that if we “commit” our way to Him, He will bring to pass what we desire. Often it seems we pray for the same thing over and over, but we have confidence that in His own good time, He will meet the need.
Verse 7 speaks of the “rest” He gives as we wait patiently on Him. He knows what we need before we even ask, and He works all things together for good. He gives us rest and peace.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for the way you provide for us, and for the rest you give, as we commit our ways to you, delight in you, and trust you every day.
