Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. (Genesis 37:3-4, King James Version)

Joseph was given a coat of many colours by his father. Even if Joseph had wanted to fit in with the crowd he would have stuck out because of his multicoloured garment.  Joseph was hated by his own brothers because of the special call that was on his life.

We are God’s chosen people just like Joseph was Israel’s chosen son.  The Lord has clothed us with His spirit and it is inevitable that we will look and act differently than those around us.  We need to be proud of who we are in Him.

Prayer: Help me to be unashamed of who I am in you, Lord.  Help me to be separate from the world even though it isn’t always easy.  In Jesus name, amen.
