“And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?” (Nehemiah 4:2)

When Nehemiah set out to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, it was not an easy task. The walls had been destroyed 152 years before that and many thought it was impossible. Nehemiah and those helping rebuild the walls were met with opposition from many sides. They faced ridicule, threat of being attacked, discouragement, extortion, compromise, slander, and treachery. No matter the opposition, they had a task to complete and continued working. The walls had been down for 152 years, but it only took Nehemiah and his men 52 days to rebuild the wall.

Maybe God is calling you into a different ministry in your life. It will not be easy. You may have opposition from family, friends and others. Don’t give up! When God is doing a work in your life, you will face opposition. If Nehemiah had stopped building the wall because of all the opposition that he faced, the walls of Jerusalem would not have been completed. Just like Nehemiah, you will face opposition in whatever you do for God, but don’t give up. Ignore the opposition in your life, no matter what it is, and do what God has called you to do. You will have victory despite the opposition!

Prayer:  Dear Lord, help us to ignore the opposition in our life and do what You have called us to do. Don’t let the negativity around us affect what You want us to do. In Jesus Name.  Amen.
