“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 (KJV)

On a cold winter day I pulled into a snow packed Walmart parking lot. I drove the aisles looking for the closest parking spot. I checked the cars around me as I pulled into a spot and went inside. After finishing my trip, I headed back out into the cold.

When I found my car I laughed at how horribly I had parked. I could now see the lines, which were previously covered and I was definitely not in compliance with the yellow markers. While parking, instead of using the lines as cues, because the snow and other parked cars blocked my view, I had gauged my parking solely by the cars around me.

It suddenly hit me. How often do we gauge our lives by those around us rather than the Word of God. He has placed His Word in our lives as a standard, but all too often we say, “I am not as bad as Sister Gossips-Alot” or “I know I don’t miss church as much as Brother Misses-Church-All-the-Time.”

My prayer today is that I allow God to continually transform my mind and my way of thinking. This world’s way of thinking and acting is contrary to the Word of God. Although I am in the world, I am not of it. I can choose not to be governed by their thought processes and expectations. In order to find Gods perfect will, I must continually check myself against His Word. His words will never lead me astray. They will always “park” me right where He wants me to be.
