“Charge them that are rich, in this world, that they be not highinded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.”  (1 Timothy 6:18 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

Trips are not always easy.  On a trip years ago, our family of four left home feeling well, but unexpectedly the next afternoon my husband had to be taken to an emergency room where it was discovered a blood clot had entered one of his lungs.

The journey of life has a way of trying to steal our joy.  Even in unpredictable times, we can still have joy in our hearts.   Joy gives us the strength to go on.  God was with us that anxious day years ago and my husband is doing well.  God is good!  He knows exactly what we need.

In our devotional verse, Paul was warning Timothy about those who trusted in “uncertain riches.”  Riches are uncertain because they can be taken away quickly.  By placing our trust in the living God we will be blessed.  If we are blessed with riches it’s because He has given it to us to enjoy!  We are benefactors of what He has given us.  God gives liberally; man divides it badly.

Prayer:  Today, I want to let You know, Lord, how thankful I am for Your provisions.  I plan to keep on enjoying the journey of life. As long as You go with me I will be blessed.  Amen!
