“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6

The Lord has impressed upon me this week to write about some of my favourite scriptures and the impact they have had on my life. The Word of God is filled with verses that inspire and bless us. Each time we read it, we find nuggets that surpass the value of gold and silver. No matter what we are going through in life, we can always open the Bible and find encouragement and strength.

My heart is full of wonder and thanksgiving when I realize that the Lord knew me before I was born, while I was still in my mother’s womb. I look back over my life and see how His hand has been upon me through the years. As a young child, He put a desire in my heart to serve Him. I have failed Him many times, but He has never failed me. Through good times and bad, I have been able to call on Him, knowing that He was always there.

I thank Him for His guidance and direction in every area of my life. I thank Him for sending the right man along to become my husband, and for the children that He gave us. When the Lord took him home many years ago, it was hard to understand. I am so thankful for the strength and comfort that I received from the Lord. I learned that Jesus was still in control and that if I could not trust Him that my husband’s death was His will, then I could not trust Him in any area of my life. This verse in Philippians let me know that He was working all things for my good.

Another verse that I have stood upon through the years is Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Recently our pastor preached a wonderful message from the Book of Judges, and the story of Deborah and Barak. Before the battle started, God already had a tent in the wilderness, where Jael resided, and where God used her to defeat the enemy. He stressed the fact that the Lord is not someone who just follows behind us, protecting our backs, but He goes ahead, leading the way, and preparing the resources needed in the battles of life.

I link these two passages together. If I trust the Lord with all my heart, He will direct my paths. And I have the assurance that He will not ever give up on me, but that He will continue to mold me and shape me into the vessel He desires me to be. No matter what I may face in life, He is fighting for me, and He will never leave me nor forsake me. I love my Jesus, and I love His Word.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray that you will direct my words this week, as I endeavour to share how your word has impacted my life. I pray for everyone who reads these words, that they too will find strength and blessing from your Word.
