He’s the Potter; I’m Just Clay

“Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?” (Romans 9:21, in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

This scripture put me in my place when I read it this morning and realized again that He’s the potter and I’m just clay.

A potter’s occupation is to make earthen vessels. Clay has no real value until it’s placed into the potter hands. With his hands, he begins to form it into something of his choosing.

He can do whatever He desires with me because He’s in charge. I can’t possibly pull myself up by the proverbial “bootstraps.” I want to stay in the Master Potter’s hands and let Him mold me according to His plan. I’m in good hands when I’m in His hands.

Prayer: Lord, mold me and make me after Your will. Help me to be pliable and flexible to what You have in mind for me. I desire to be a vessel of honor. In Jesus Name, Amen!
