“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” Psalm 19:1

David wrote this verse many years ago, but for a lot of people here in our country, it was fulfilled recently (April 8) as they were able to view a total eclipse of the sun. Even though I had the special glasses, I did not go outside but did view it on TV, following the news across the country.

It is amazing how God has given scientists and astronomers the ability to predict when and where these Eclipses will take place. Their predictions were perfect down to the minute when each stage would take place in each locality. People traveled from all over the world to view this spectacular display. Although clouds covered the sky in some locations, here in our area, the skies were clear.

How could anyone doubt the existence of a Supreme God, when we see how His creation works in such harmony? He moves the sun, moon, and planets through space in perfect rhythm. How could such an intricate system just happen by chance, or by a “big bang”? What an Awesome God we serve.

Although those who study the stars and space were able to predict this event down to the very second, there is a heavenly event coming for which no man knows the day nor the hour as described in I Thessalonians 4:16-17

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Jesus has promised to return to take His people home. With joy and anticipation, we look forward to that day. We may not know the day nor the hour, but we know for sure that it will happen. Jesus Christ has already paid the price, and each of us must confirm our reservation by accepting His offer:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Prayer: Jesus, you are an Awesome God. Thank you for the wonders you display in our world. Thank you for the hope of your return and spending eternity with you.
