Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul. (Psalm 66:16, NKJV) Everyone has a story to tell. I have mine; you have yours. And each of our life stories is different because God found us in different places at different points in our lives. I grew up on a church pew, brought from birth by faithful parents with a strong commitment to God. Others met the Lord and were filled with His Spirit as an adult or even late life. Our stories are all different, some more dramatic than others,…
Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel. (Proverbs 27:9, ESV) A group of friends came over recently, something we hadn’t done for quite a while because of the pandemic. Even though I was the hostess, I think I can…
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. (Psalm 37:7, NKJV) I have an acquaintance who gets a little upset when God doesn’t zap (her word) someone she…

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37, NKJV). Have you ever been thirsty? Really, really thirsty? I have. I recently took a long hike on a very hot day. I carried water, but I misjudged the heat, the distance, and my thirst. I ran out of water long before I got back to my starting point. I felt thirsty down to my toenails. I also realized I was in trouble, probably dehydrated. There was no way to keep walking in…
Paul did not want the church at Ephesus to think that living for God was a piece of cake; he wanted them to know the truth of the matter – they are in a fight to the finish. He told them in order to win the battle they must put on the whole armor of God. The Message version of the Bible puts it this way, “Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them through your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon” (Ephesians 6:13-17).
Prayer: I know that it’s a fight to the finish and that’s what I intend to do. Lord, I put on the armor so that I can withstand the enemy of my soul. You are my protection. Amen!

“Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us. Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.” Jeremiah 42:5-6. The Book of Jeremiah is filled with stories of how God sent a message to His people, and they failed to…
“And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,” Deuteronomy 10:12 In Deuteronomy, Moses had been re-telling the story of the Israelite’s deliverance from Egypt and their travels up to this point. They had been so close to going into the Promised Land, but due to their fear, they had been forced to dwell in the wilderness for forty years. The ones who had…
