“The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you” (Jeremiah 31:3, Holy Bible, New King James). Time is measured in precise increments but may seem different depending upon the event in progress. When an…

The LORD’S loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning… (Lamentations 3:22-23 New American Standard Bible)

Every sunrise brings freshness. Wet with dew or dry with dust, there is something special about greeting a new day. Yesterday’s despair can be erased with today’s hope. New opportunities are waiting. A chance to call, write an encouraging note, send an email, or pray for a friend are gifts from the heart that can brighten the sender as well as the recipient.

Follow God’s example of new compassion every morning.

Prayer: Eternal God, renew in me today the compassion for others. Soften my response to those who are abrupt or demanding. Help me to be kind to those who are unkind. Teach me compassion so I will be more like You. Amen.

The LORD’S loving kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23, New American Standard Bible)

Each sunrise brings a beautiful freshness. Wet with mountain dew or dry with desert dust, there is something special about greeting a new day. Yesterday’s despair is erased by today’s hope. New opportunities are waiting. A chance to call, write an encouraging note, send an e-mail, or pray for a friend are gifts from the heart that can brighten the sender as well as the recipient. Remembering God’s loving kindness gives us a new measure of daily compassion. Accept today’s fresh start as a gift and share it with others.

Prayer:Eternal God, renew in me the compassion for others that You give to me daily. Let me respond gently to those who are abrupt. Help me to be kind to those who are unkind to me. By sharing Your compassion with others, I will be more like You. When You give me a fresh start each day, I will renew my compassion for others. Amen.

“Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?” Matthew 25:44 (King James Version of the Holy Bible)

My Mother had been in the hospital in Burbank, California for several days and was becoming depressed. She didn’t hear well and could only guess what was really going on. One day the church secretary, Cynthia, decided she would have a tea party with her in her hospital room. With permission from the nursing staff, she marched into the room with a beautiful tray, lace doily, lovely tea pot and two china cups for her and Mom. I think she had some small cookies and they had a tea party. The gesture instantly elevated Mom’s mood. Maybe you know someone who needs encouragement; try having a tea party! The Bible tells us that by doing so you are in fact ministering to God.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for friends who are sensitive to the needs of those around them. How often I have myself been encouraged by the kindness of someone in the body of Christ.
