As many in North America approach the one-year anniversary of Coronavirus restrictions being introduced, nearly everyone has celebrated a birthday without the usual fanfare. While vaccines are being rolled out, celebrations of all kinds will continue to be cancelled or scaled back, which can be extremely disappointing, especially if you…
“And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.” Psalm 40:3 It has been a stormy day, the winds have howled, the rain has fallen steadily, and all the world looks dark…
“God cannot tell lies! And so his promises and vows are two things that can never be changed. We have run to God for safety. Now his promises should greatly encourage us to take hold of the hope that is right in front of us.” Hebrews 6:18 CEV I know…
“I am doing this so all who see this miracle will understand what it means – that it is the Lord who has done this, the Holy One of Israel who created it.” Isaiah 41:20 We serve an incredible God who deserves every bit of praise and worship we have…
Trust is something we put into action every day. I trust that other commuters driving on the highway will obey the rules and stay in their lanes. I trust that my internet or Wi-Fi connection will work, allowing me to access Google or Instagram. We trust man-made laws and technology,…
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8 Over the last few weeks there has been a lot of news about plastics, and how they are trying to ban the use of plastic straws, etc. A little over a hundred years ago, in 1907, the…
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Life is uncertain. The winds and waves of everyday situations and experiences can leave us struggling to cope with the changes that…
Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. (Ecclesiastes 1:10, Holy Bible, King James Version.)
On this seventh day of January, New Year’s resolutions are broken as minutes tick toward another hour, another day, another month. A wise man speaks from ancient Scripture with a reminder that the past repeats itself and blends with the present. A mix of old and new doesn’t dwell on failures. Jesus gives hope for a brighter future in the words he spoke centuries later.
Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. (Matthew 28:20, Holy Bible, King James Version)
His promises are for today, tomorrow next week, next month. They are old, new and eternal.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Your promises give me hope. Amen.

“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting” (Micah 5:2 Holy Bible, King James Version).
A modern day expectant mother carefully selects the best and most convenient hospital or alternate facility for the birth of her child. Mary, the mother of Jesus was given no choice in her child’s birthplace. Her holy child would be born in Bethlehem far away from Nazareth, Joseph’s home, as prophesied. This single event would shine a spotlight on an obscure village for the whole world to see.
Prayer: Eternal God, tiny Bethlehem was destined to be the birthplace of Jesus. Nothing could change that because Your prophecies and promises are certain. This gives me great faith. You have known my future from the beginning and You are in control of events in my life, too. Amen.
