“Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.” Psalm 119:66 I live in a busy city and there is always lots of traffic to contend with on our streets and highways. Every time I pull my car out of the garage, I ask the Lord to…

“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread” (Psalm 37:25 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). Life experience gives us the opportunity to observe those around us from wisdom’s perspective. The psalmist wrote from that vantage point. He had been young with all the joys allotted him and was now living in the golden years. One thing that stood out to him was how God had taken care of the righteous and their offspring. He wrote of something he had not seen in his lifetime. “…yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken…” I’ve joined the ranks of the senior citizens and I can attest to the same pattern. God takes care of the righteous!
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for taking care of me all of my life. It’s good to know I will not be forsaken. I can count on You. You will supply all of my needs!

“O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.” Psalm 139:1-3 Our minds often wander down strange paths, its seems our thoughts…

“Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the loving kindness of the Lord” (Psalm 107:43 in the King James Version of the Bible).

After reading this in my Bible, I reread it in the Message version, “If you are really wise, you’ll think this over—it’s time you appreciated God’s deep love.” This is Thanksgiving month; a month set aside to count our blessings. It’s time we wise up to God’s loving-kindness to us and show our appreciation by worshiping Him more.

Prayer: Every day this month I will sing with the songwriter, “Thank You Lord for saving my soul. Thank You Lord for making me whole. Thank You Lord for giving to me; Thy great salvation, so rich and so free.” In Jesus’ Name. Amen!

“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths,” Proverbs 3:6 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible. Make Jesus the navigator of your life! You can trust His ability to chart your course and direct your path every day.

Pray with me: Lord Jesus, I recognize how much I need Your wisdom and guidance. I submit to Your will today and make the commitment that I will follow wherever You lead me. Amen.

Stay away from fools, for you won’t find knowledge on their lips. (Proverbs 14:7, NLT) Who you choose to surround yourself by has the potential to change everything about your life. If you aspire for greatness, it is essential that you have people in your life that pull that greatness out…

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” Proverbs 25:11

I have always been fascinated by this verse, and can see a picture in my mind of a basket of golden apples set in a silver frame.

I am sure all of us wish that our words always conformed to this picture, but it takes a lot of wisdom to consistently speak words that are pleasing to everyone.

I came up with the following acrostic for Wisdom:

W Words can come so easily
I If we open our mouths wide
S Speaking without thinking
D Destroys our neighbour’s pride.
O Only speak what is good and pleasing to the ear
M Making people happy, spreading hope and cheer.

Prayer: Lord, I desire that my words might always reflect your wisdom, and not offend or hurt anyone else.

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.” Ecclesiastes 4:9

I was reminded of an incident that happened many years ago. We had some heavy rain and our vegetable garden was rather muddy. My younger son decided to go pull some carrots as he loved to eat them right from the garden. Needless to say, he found himself stuck in the mud. His older sister went to his aid, but when she tried to lift him out, his boots stayed in the ground, and both of them tumbled backwards into the mud. We laugh at it now, but it wasn’t funny at the time. My husband got some boards to lay down for them to walk on, and with his help they were able to get back to solid ground.

There are times when we see someone going through a problem, or having some difficulty and we want to rush to their aid. It is often a good idea, to talk to the Lord about it, and let Him show us what the solution is. As we pray, and seek His guidance, He will show us the right way to deal with it and we save ourselves a lot of frustration. It is His will that we help one another, but we need the Lord’s wisdom in every situation.

Prayer: Lord help us to be aware of ways that we can help one another, and show us the right way to go about it.

“For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise in the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed:  and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)…
