“Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?” (Romans 9:21, in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

This morning this scripture put me in my place when I read it and realized that He’s the potter and I’m just clay.

A potter’s occupation is to make earthen vessels. Clay has no real value until it’s placed into the potter hands. With his hands, he begins to form it into something of his choosing.

He can do whatever He desires with me because He’s in charge. I can’t possibly pull myself up by the proverbial “boot straps.” I want to stay in the Master Potter’s hands and let Him mold me according to His plan. I’m in good hands when I’m in His hands.

Prayer: Lord, mold me and make me after Your will. Help me to be pliable and flexible to what You have in mind for me. I desire to be a vessel of honor. In Jesus Name, amen!

We have frequent afternoon showers in the South that interrupt our schedules. Many times these inconvenient downpours will start as we are heading home from work. There are things in all of our lives that disrupt our plans and often cause us to change our plans. An unexpected illness and loss of a job are a few of the unexpected mud puddles we may encounter. This week I stopped by an herb store. It had rained earlier and as I started to step out of the car I realized there was a huge mud puddle at my door. I ended up moving my car to avoid the mud puddle. But, the Bible reminds us that some “mud puddle interruptions” are welcome disruptions that open doors to miracles. For example, the story of a blind man in the Book of John who received his sight after Jesus spit on the ground and made a mud pack for his eyes. He was told to go to the Pool of Siloam and wash the mud out of his eyes. “When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay” (John 9:7 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).

Prayer: Even though the unexpected things that come into my life are often like a mud puddle I rather avoid, help me, Lord, to realize both the ground and the rain came from You. You know how to turn the mud puddles I encounter into miracles.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 in the New International Version of the Holy Bible). My attention was drawn to this passage in a recent meeting. The King James Version of this scripture reads, “supplies all your needs.” Both versions convey that God supplies all. The word “all” means everything; nothing is excluded. Whatever I have need of He will supply. What a great God I serve!

Prayer: Thank You, God, for supplying all my needs. There is no reason to worry for Your supply is unlimited. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!

Jesus said, “And, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” (John 12:32 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). In this verse Jesus was speaking of His death on the cross but we can still lift Him up today. This is why it’s important to create an atmosphere of praise and worship at the beginning of every church service. Our purpose is to encourage those who come in with a heavy load to be drawn into heavenly places where answers are available. It is your responsibility as a believer to offer heartfelt worship and words of encouragement to point those in need to Jesus Christ – the answer to their individual crisis! Lift Him up as high as you possibly can so that others will be drawn to Him!

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the avenue of praise. When we lift You up, we are drawn into Your presence.
