Today's Devotion
There are moments when God gently asks a question that lingers in the heart: Are you willing to obey, even when it costs you something? Scripture reminds us, “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2, KJV). God is not searching first for ability or recognition—He is looking for faithfulness. This truth is beautifully illustrated in the life of Pastor Wilfredo “Willy” C. Majaducon, who simply chose to listen when God spoke. While teaching in Bible school, a quiet but unmistakable impression came: “Are you willing to leave your comfort zone?” There was…
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matthew 5:14. I’m one of those people who love a power outage; I think it’s fun to get off the grid for a few hours, playing a board game, reading a book to candlelight, or just being cozy with blankets acting like a shelter of protection. Even though there is darkness in the world, it doesn’t mean there isn’t something more powerful. Light will always prevail. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth…
“To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22-24, ESV) When my now college-age grand was still pre-school age, she was a very determined child. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8 Where do they come from? You walk into your bedroom and see something dark and shadowy in the corner that wasn’t there before. Time to get the broom, wrap a dust cloth around it, and carefully wipe the edges of the ceiling and down the corners of the room. Might as well check the rest of…
The greatest obstacle preventing the Israelites from escaping Egypt and entering the Promised Land wasn’t Pharaoh and his vast army. It wasn’t the daunting Red Sea or the fortified Canaanite cities. The greatest obstacle to the fulfillment of God’s promise was the grumbling of God’s people. Grumbling gives voice to our distrust of God’s sovereignty in our lives. God said, “How long shall this wicked congregation grumble against me? I have heard the grumblings of the people of Israel, which they grumble against me” (Numbers 14:27, ESV). Like a parent who has reached the end of their patience, God had…
