“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25, NKJV) I enjoy reading articles and watching video clips online on how to transform a house from drab and outdated to something fresh and beautiful. Perhaps you also enjoy watching these home makeovers and have even done your own DIY (do it yourself) project. The…
Psalms 111:10 ESV “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have good understanding. His praise endures forever!” Psalms 33:8 “Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him” I love taking scripture…
“But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”…

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26, KJV) God created mankind to have dominion. We were born to be in control, which is why it can be so hard for us to let go of our own will and let God take over. We will never have all the answers and if we continuously try…
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 Most of us probably memorized this verse as a small child in Sunday School. We sang the song “Jesus Loves Me” even before we could understand what it really meant. We listened to the Bible stories of men and women who trusted God and did great things for Him. We listened to testimonies of older people of what Jesus had done for them. But at that point, they were still just stories. But…
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37, NKJV). Have you ever been thirsty? Really, really thirsty? I have. I recently took a long hike on a very hot day. I carried water, but I misjudged the heat, the distance, and my thirst. I ran out of water long before I got back to my starting point. I felt thirsty down to my toenails. I also realized I was in trouble, probably dehydrated. There was no way to keep walking in…
Paul did not want the church at Ephesus to think that living for God was a piece of cake; he wanted them to know the truth of the matter – they are in a fight to the finish. He told them in order to win the battle they must put on the whole armor of God. The Message version of the Bible puts it this way, “Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them through your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon” (Ephesians 6:13-17).
Prayer: I know that it’s a fight to the finish and that’s what I intend to do. Lord, I put on the armor so that I can withstand the enemy of my soul. You are my protection. Amen!
