“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” Proverbs 16:9 The New Living Translation puts it this way: “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Today we start a new month, the last one of this year. I am sure that we…
Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways. (Psalm 119:37, ESV) Peter turned to watch the wind churn big waves. Lot’s wife looked back to see her city in flames. David peered across rooftops and found momentary pleasure. Eve looked on the fruit and…
For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:37-38, KJV) When Gabriel appeared to Mary she was startled – an appropriate response I think! He tells her not to…
“O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD,…
“Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” Psalm 143:8 So often when we wake in the morning, we start to think about all the…
The Lord rewarded me for doing right and being pure. For I have followed his commands and have not sinned by turning back from following him. I kept close watch on all his laws; I did not refuse a single one. I did my best to keep them all, holding…

“I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” (Psalm 16:8 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.) Absorbed in the song being played on the radio, I waited for the light to turn green. The car ahead of me started moving and so did I in automatic motion. All of a sudden I looked at the light and it was still red. I stopped and waited until the light turned green to proceed. We have to be careful what is leading us. The Psalmist said that he was going to set or put the Lord out front always. Be careful who you are following. It could have been a bad scene for me had I not realized that the car ahead of me ran a red light. You never have to worry when the Lord’s out front leading you.

Prayer: Lord, today I want to place You ahead of me so that I can follow your leading. Where You lead me I want to follow. You see way down the road and know what’s best for my life.
