Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105, NLT) We have all read this scripture and many of us can probably even quote it. We know that God’s word provides us with direction. Why is it that so often we find ourselves…
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28, ESV) The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. I take this sentence very literally and often find myself looking for shortcuts…
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, Holy Bible, New King James Version)

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Life is uncertain. The winds and waves of everyday situations and experiences can leave us struggling to cope with the changes that…
I will always keep the Lord in front of me. When he is by my side, I cannot be moved. (Psalm 16:8, God’s Word Translation) Knowing that the Lord is always steps ahead of us, how can we be afraid? We do not need to fret over life’s mysteries because…
What we consider a “small” decision may actually change the course of our life. Rushing ahead without first seeking guidance through prayer and godly counsel can lead to disaster. There is wisdom in knowing when to respect the advice given, even when it may not seem important or logical. Read…
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.” (Psalms 37:23-24 from the KJV of the Holy Bible) Have you ever used a compass?…
Wouldn’t it be nice to know what lies ahead? Fortune tellers and tarot card readers make money, promising glimpses into the future. But no one can successfully predict what tomorrow or next year will bring. The Word of God is our best source for direction. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105). God’s Word is not a spot light that shines for miles, but it is a lamp. A lamp only casts its light a few feet ahead. But by that light, you can see where to step. After the first step is taken, it reveals the next few feet.
Prayer: Dear God, Thank You for Your Word. Reading its pages and listening to Your voice provides us with the roadmap for each day. Please help us to hear and understand what You are saying.

We have a tendency to wander away from God, listening to the call of the world and turning aside to go our own way. When we feel lost, it’s important to remember that it’s God’s voice that will set us going in the right direction again.
“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).
Prayer: Keep me on the right road, I pray. If I do stray, remind me that You are ready and waiting to respond to my cry for help. Order my steps, Lord! Amen.
