Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her. This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the Lord, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat. (1 Samuel 1:6-7, KJV) Imagine wanting something…

“So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Have faith in God’” (Mark 11:22, Holy Bible, New Kings James).>

There are days when nothing goes right and you question why. No milk for cereal. Traffic is intolerable. When you reach your destination, you’re confronted with more problems. Later, you come home to chaos, not peace. Your faith shrinks. When the day ends and tomorrow’s sunrise appears, those temporary events have faded in the shadows of important things. Your faith is renewed.

When the next serious situation arises, you pray but your faith is shaken again when things don’t go as anticipated. You ask, “Why didn’t God answer?”

He did. He said, “Have faith in God.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust in You with faith for the answers. Amen.

“They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.” (Psalm 112:7-8 from the NLT of the Holy Bible) Wouldn’t it be great if we could all live as Psalm 112:7 describes? To not…

“Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you.” (Psalm 37:5) This verse is quite simple, give everything you have to God, trust Him, and then because of these actions – He will help you. It seems like a no-brainer but how often do we…

“I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old” (Psalm 77:11). I have a terrible memory, “Mommy brain” is what it’s called now that I have a rambunctious three-year-old who doesn’t believe sleep is a necessity. I have to make a note of…

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27:14

I recently made a road trip that usually takes me about two hours, but due to the large amount of construction, this time it lasted almost four hours.

Signs would appear saying that the left (or right) lane would be closed 5 km. ahead, and traffic started to slow down, both lanes were congested, until finally it would narrow down to one lane. So many people get impatient, shift lanes because they think one is moving faster than the other, and this only compounds the problem. The speed limit posted was 80 km, but in a lot of cases we were down to about 5 km per hr.

I always carry some SG cd’s with me so was able to listen to some inspiring music, sing along with the ones I knew, and just thank the Lord for His presence with me. I had lots of fuel in my tank, and no deadline to meet, so took the time to just relax and enjoy the trip.

Many times, when life seems to be going full speed ahead, something happens to make us slow down. That is when we need to just trust that the Lord is in it, and use the time to draw closer to Him. His timing is always right, He knows what is best for us, and in those waiting times, He can reveal His will and His way.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the times when life slows down and we can draw close to you.
